| Originally
a quaint corner store, The Patchwork Tree came into being
eighteen years ago as one of the original patchwork and quilting
stores in Brisbane.
After making my first patchwork quilt in a beginner class
with Dawn ten years ago I have been visiting The Patchwork
Tree ever since.
My husband and I visited the shop together one day, early
in 2004, it was then Dawn told us of their plans to retire
and sell the shop. With great excitement we took over in October
that year and have been busy adding our own little touches
ever since.
We have opened the shop up to incorporate an extra room,
added another classroom, lots of new
fabrics and an assortment of patterns
and kits. Amongst other
things, we love Christmas! You
will always find a special class
or pattern from our
own range.
I have enjoyed creating a variety of handwork since a young
age but my passion is applique and stitching. I am proud to
incorporate some my own designs into the selection of patterns
and kits available - and I truely hope that the changes to
The Patchwork Tree have inspired you too!
Of course Roxanne, Jenny and I still offer old fashioned
service to our customers. With Kym's expertise in Mary Ellen
Hopkins quick piecing techniques, between us, we have decades
of experience in traditional and modern approaches. The Tree
has always been well known for its classes,
particularly the beginner machine class, which teaches all
the basics of machine sewing a quilt.
